NREL Engineers Visit University of Toledo/PVIC

Recently, after several months of planning, engineers from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) paid a visit to PVIC to test and calibrate our solar simulators. PVIC has two solar simulators onsite at the University of Toledo. One is a Newport Class AAA Solar Simulator capable of testing cell as lard as 4" x 4". It is mainly used for research and development by PVIC-affiliated companies and for cutting-edge university research. The second is a Spire Solar SPI-Sun Simulator which is in the flash table configuration. This piece of equipment can test modules up to 64" by 40". Both systems are equipped with an AM1.5G global filter. PVIC is proud to have the Newport Class AAA Solar Simulator certified as a Class A simulator with ASTM E-927 spectral match provided by NREL. The Spire Solar SPI-Sun Simulator will be soon be able to test much larger modules at this level. Thanks to NREL for coming to certify our equipment!
